Creative spirits are noble and rare. They should thrive.
The E’s of Selling first started in the mid-80’s to help other art consultants and eventually independent artists learn to sell art. There was a short period in the 90’s when I also taught in other industries. But I never really cared much for helping someone become better at selling carpets or refrigerators.
As someone who has been an avid collector of art, and had the pleasure to selling rare and fabulous collectibles all of my adult life, I really never gained a passion for helping anyone sell factory-line items.
Now with close to three decades of teaching, coaching, coaxing and consoling artists to use my E’s of Selling concepts, this has now officially become “a thing”. And a regular blog post is part of the things I will do to move more artist’s into a thriving and sustainable business model.
The Takeaway:
When you are creating, you are visiting a place in your heart and soul that is uniquely united with every other creative spirit that has ever lived. Enjoy your artistry. Be confident that your creative center will be felt by others.
Remember: You are not selling a mattress!
It’s so important as an artist to come up for air and let my creative passion find satisfaction. This life is as frightfully busy as it is exciting.
Nicely said Mary. Come up for air!
Mckenna,
It feels like you have released a huge helium-filled (really knowledge-filled) balloon attracting artists, like myself, to look up, smile, and be proud to share our talents.
Thanks for sharing yours!
With your solo show in just two days, you have a lot to share!
Is there a place to read what you wrote years ago???
Seems like something I’d like to do.
Thanks, Sue
Thanks, Sue….Well…. not exactly years ago…
I do have a terrific read available, though. I just released my publication for artists that is “thirty years in the making” and certainly is filled with enriching content to help artists sell more of their creations and just plain stay in the right mind set. Here’s a link to see more details.
This will be a help to all of us in Arizona. Thank you!
Aloha Sara! I know you have the “E’s of Selling Art Guide” so you have all the words! I am so excited to share this new blog, too. Pass this around to your circle.
McKenna~ Thanks for all the encouragement you give in both of your emails and blogs. I plan to continue reaching out to the people who will have my ‘art make a difference in the home everyday’.
That’s the Spirit Dawn! And share this post with everyone who love art. Let’s start a “find homes for art” movement!
I am going to put that quote on social media, “Find Home for Art” movement.
YES! I like this idea. The “Find Home For Art Movement” must move forward! Go forward and give me credit when you can! (wink)
McKenna, your words are travelling across to Spain and finding listening ears here. As a relative newbie in the art world helping my husband’s work to find receptive hearts, it’s encouraging to read the concise wisdom of someone both with appreciation for unique art and understanding of the processes involved in bringing together artist and art lover.
(Blushing!) Thanks for your kind words. YES – we need the heartbeats of the artist and art lover to become one. Ironically, that is exactly what happens every time they have that virgin “moment” when viewing our creations. We need to keep that moment alive in homes!
I gave you credit ?
Sweeeet….!’-)
